To get the software:
  1. Decide whether to download it or check out CD's from the library
      - If you don't have a high-speed Internet connection, choose CD's.
      - For operating systems, choose CD's unless you have a CD burner.
        (You will need to burn the OS onto a CD to install it.)
     
  2. Go to ELMS to get a product key and, if you choose, download.
      - Sign on with your St. Edward's e-mail address.
      - ELMS passwords are different from SEU passwords.  Ask ELMS to get your password.
      - A product key is also known as a activation code or serial number.
     
  3. If you chose CD's, check them out from the library and install.
Note: Many 2007 products download as an ISO image.  See the FAQs for more on installing these products.

About the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDN AA)

Current SMB graduate students and faculty are entitled to a free copy of most Microsoft development tools, servers and operating systems.

Access:  If you are eligible, you will receive an e-mail with your password near the beginning of each term.  You can also ask ELMS to e-mail your password to you.  (Students who enroll late will be added to ELMS shortly after the last day to add or change classes.)

Software Available:  Go to ELMS for a list.  If you want a Microsoft product that is not listed, go to msdnaa.com and verify that it is available from Microsoft.  If it is, send us an e-mail and we'll try to get it for you.  They have older operating systems (like Windows 98 and 2000), all the servers (like Commerce Server), many betas, and other tools.

Not Available:  Microsoft Office and its developer tools.  St.Edward's students may receive substantial discounts (priced at $55 - $65) on Microsoft Office at e-academy.

Terms:  This software is only for you, and may not be used for commercial purposes. Your license is permanent; you may continue to use it in the future, even after you leave St. Edward's. For more information, go to msdnaa.com.  Please do not violate the license agreement.  Discovery of a material violation will result in dismissal from the university and a report to the Microsoft piracy hotline.
